If you live in the Northern California Bay Area you have, no doubt, heard the news about the slayings of Oakland Police officers Sgt Mark Dunakin, Officer John Hege, Sgt Daniel Sakai, and Ervin Romans, by one Lovelle Mixon.
My heart goes out to the families of the victims and to the family of the slain shooter.
In the wake of this event San Francisco Chronicle columnists Matier & Ross, in the Wednesday edition of the Chronicle, wrote about how the cash-strapped state California may free thousands of prison inmates.
I pose this question to you: In the shadow of this outrageous Oakland shooting, why even propose that prison inmates be set free. Setting aside the fact that California is pretty much out of money, what could be worse the having criminals running free in our streets. Not only does this give us a fear for our lives and our family's lives, but this will give our kids the impression that wrong-doers will not be punished or be taken away for what they have done.
This is not right, nor is it SAFE!

Hey dude. Its Darren
ReplyDeleteSetting prisoners free that have minor drug offenses has been shown to do wonders. I dont use any drugs, but it has been shown that treatment of addiction to hard drugs, and legalization of marijuana would solve the states budget crisis, several times over.
Legalize marijuana. Control and tax the living hell out of it. It is California's largest agriculture business. Also by freeing up space in the prisons, you make room for the real nasty criminals, like violent felons, and the CEO of A.I.G.
The shooter in the Oakland PD case raped a 12 year old girl. He should be locked up for life and forgotten about. Plus he had an AK-47...if Bush had kept up the assault weapons ban in place, would he have had that weapon?
Darren-
ReplyDeleteYou make some good points, my friend. I do agree that Bush should have kept the assault weapons band in place. What Lovell Mixon did was outrageous and should not go unpunished.
As for legalizing marijuana I can give a formal opinion on that because I do not know very much about how the medical aspect of is working these days.
As for the likes of the CEO of A.I.G. I choose not to comment, due to the fact that I unwilling own stock in that failure of a company. (I say that more out of humor than anger)
Cheers!
